Funny (maybe) review
This game should be called “how to die in space simulator”:- Superhero landing is bad for your knee (Crash Landing)
- I am the one and only moon for this planet!!! Now go away!!!! (Hit by the moon)
- How unlucky can one guy be (Hit by a meteorite -> Hit a moon -> Crash on a planet)
- You do not belong here! (Hit by asteroid belt)
- A wise man once said 'Don't fly to close to the Sun' (Barbequed by the SUN)
- Do not forget to breathe! (Depleting Oxygen)
- Alien spotted, now open fire! (Shot down by Red Skull - red alien or Thanos – purple alien)
- You can (not) escape (Blackhole!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
(Yes, those are video description for my Last Horizon - Ways to Die in Space series)
Rating: 10/10
Last Horizon is fun but also challenging space physics exploration game. Is it easy? No! Landing on planets is hard because it must be perfectly perpendicular to the tangent line at the landing point or your aircraft will bounce around which will lead to mission failure. With the limitation of oxygen and fuel, sometimes with Red Skull or Thanos on your tail, landing is stressful and can create some funny moment. For the game design:
Physics is great when near planets/suns/black hole. Airship fly path will curve when near planets. If the ship is too fast, it will fly past the planet but also change the course. If the ship is moving slowly, it will become a moon and orbit around the planet. If the ship is moving too slow, it will be pulled towards the planet. The game also has some management element in the game. Landing is likely to damage your ship, so you will find ore to fix the ship. You will also have to replenish oxygen and fuel because they are the key to survival. Choosing where to land and when to land is important. You don’t want to refuel at a planet where it’s an ocean planet with small landmass.
The soundtrack is great and fits the space theme really well. When the ship is in danger, the soundtrack will change to much intense music.
I did not pay attention to the storyline. (well, I am even having a hard time to avoid a crash. Do not really want to be distracted by the text on the screen. You really never know when a meteorite shows up and strike your ship) But the storyline is somewhat related to sustainability, and the game will remind you when you gather terraform materials. This is a plus for me.
Overall if you enjoy challenges and want to have fun at the same time, this game is for you.
