Judgement: Not Recommended

Now, I should mention that I'm a huge fan of TD games and I really like the unique theme in Iron Sea Defenders, but this game really gets on my nerves just because the game doesn't properly indicate which path the creeps will be using, making it short of impossible to plan ahead and set up sufficient defenses down the path. This is particularly true for the flying blimps, by the way.
Granted that I can probably guess... at least 90% of the time... which path the creeps will take to attack my sea fort, the remaining 10% just makes me end up feeling really frustrated since I'll have to restart a level just to get a perfect score. The developers should have at least added arrows to indicate the path direction like in Prime Defenders if they wanted to design their levels in a rather ambigious kind of way.
Another bone that I really have to pick with this game is its poor turret auto-targeting. As this is a TD game, you'll need to rely on your turrets to take care of the enemies, but for some reason, they can be really bad at focusing on the creep (with low health) that's like inches away from your sea fort and instead attack other creeps that are much further away.
You can use manual targeting to counter this but the way this game forces you to use this feature in order to get a perfect score is just annoying. A TD game shouldn't have to force its players to "micro-manage" their turrets - this is just plain wrong.
Anyway, the game is not impossible to play though, but it can be really tough at the beginning. Once you get enough upgrades, you can pretty much breeze through most levels.
This game is also basically a reskinned game from 8floor since it has a gameplay that is a lot similar to their other TD games. However, if you have not played any of their TD games before, then you'll at least be able to enjoy this game slightly more than I did.
That said, just because of the two main points I've brought up and the fact that it's a reskin, I'll stick with my "Not Recommended" review and suggest you try playing 8Floor's other TD games instead.
A summary and a bit more details
- Fixed and limited turret placements, though you can buy extra turret slots by spending barrels (you'll need these to upgrade your turrets and abilities)
- 4 types of turrets available to unlock. Each type can be further upgraded into 2 different subtypes.
- Upgrades available both in-game (using gold you earn by killing creeps) and out (via the workshop).
- Has 5 types of abilities. Each ability can be further upgraded
- Creeps can't damage the traps you place. Traps don't have durabilities.
- Challenge level: The game can be quite easy on Easy mode, especially once you get some upgrades.
Thanks to Reforced for gifting this game. Didn't enjoy playing this as much as the other TD games, but it's still okay.
