Endless Space 2 is a war/space management sim which, akin to its name, endless in possible playthroughs, where the limit is how much the player wants to keep playing it.
Gameplay itself is the usual "point where your units go and/or what the should do, and also click pop ups and notifications when they appear". And the impression I get is that, also given it is slower than other types of turn-based games and has far more simultaneous events going, it may not be for everyone. But as a strategy game, it was pretty nice.
Story itself is pretty barebones, but it didn't feel detrimental to the overall experience.
And the more stuff the game has loaded at a given playthrough, the laggier it gets. And the laggier it gets, the more oddities happen (like the game freezing and some times/rarely crashing). So make sure to save manually frequently. (And saving often is also good because save scum helps in combats, since a bit of RNG is involved).
Overall, I give it a "Hey Hey People"/10.
Jokes aside (sorry, couldn't resist e.e" ), it is a nice game. Couldn't check the paid DLCs since I don't have them, but the base game + free DLCs was worth the time spent already.
