Grindy Achievement(s): No.
Optional Achievement(s): No.
Difficult Achievement(s): No.
Pros:
- Nice animations and voiceovers, done in the same quality as other The Walking Dead games
- Enjoyable even to those who haven't read the comic book
Cons:
- Your opinions hardly matter
Specs

If you enjoy the story of the other The Walking Dead games from Telltale Games and don't mind reading the inferior, short one, buy it at a sale.
The animations were smooth. There were two times when the game froze at some cutscenes, though. The story is slow-paced at times, especially when it tries to suspense when the characters are walking from place to place. To be honest, I'm not as hooked as when I played the other The Walking Dead games, but it wasn't that bad either.

I had a confusion when the character was having a mental problem at the beginning, though. The game keeps on moving the main character from place to place, which makes me think that I'm hallucinating sometimes. The conversation between the characters makes it clear, though, and I soon begin to accept that.
Perhaps it's because the game was just short, but I don't find the characters to be likable. You are forced to choose sides at the beginning, and I couldn't care less. Of course, with the game being linear and all, it doesn't really give you much option but to choose a side, and I wasn't even sure that it matters. My suspicions turned to be right when I found both sides to be jerks and I don't want to deal with them anymore.
That's not everything, though. Your main crew also doesn't seem to be getting that much spotlight except for one, which makes it hard to sympathize with them when everything turns upside down.

It consists of QTEs and exploration, just like what you find in point-and-click games where you can walk your characters. I don't have issues with the QTEs for the most part; the only issue that I got is when the game tries to ask me to press another button after button-mashing a button. I always pressed the first button by accident since I was in the process of button-mashing it.
The "walking around" mechanic isn't smooth at all. Sometimes, I find it difficult to navigate the area, sometimes due to the camera and other times due to the controls. While you mostly have to press one direction button, one section requires you to explore a house, and it was hard to navigate your way to all the places with the hard-to-understand controls.

Despite having several options that you can take, your choice hardly matters. It feels as if some choices are predetermined from the start, regardless of your opinion. I felt like my choice wasn't heard when the characters ignored what I said and did the other thing that the game wanted me to do.
Length and Difficulty
I finished the game in 4.1h. The game isn't difficult at all - you mostly just need to watch the cutscene like watching a movie, while moving your character or pressing QTEs from time to time.

In-Depth Review
Visuals
Despite having no connection in the story, The Walking Dead: Michonne was displayed just like other The Walking Dead series from Telltale Games. Characters are drawn like cartoons with outlines on the characters and environment and lines to depict depth, namely in arms, facial features, and even clothes. This gives a unique look to the game.Story
The story is shorter than the other The Walking Dead series by Telltale Games. It only has 3 episodes with 7 chapters in each of them. Each episode focuses on a certain topic, mostly in a new location. The animations were smooth. There were two times when the game froze at some cutscenes, though. The story is slow-paced at times, especially when it tries to suspense when the characters are walking from place to place. To be honest, I'm not as hooked as when I played the other The Walking Dead games, but it wasn't that bad either.

Conclusion
Despite the issues, The Walking Dead: Michonne is still an okay game. You don't have to read the comic book to understand the story, and although the situation in the story looks too exaggerated and inferior to the other games, it wasn't that bad. I could recommend buying it at a sale if you are a fan of Telltale Games, but don't set your expectations too high - it will leave you disappointed. Review posted on 10/12/2023, 03:01:00.
