Judgement: Not Recommended

Doorways: Holy Mountains of Flesh is a first-person or third-person (switchable) walking simulator and survivor horror game.
It's the third and last entry in the Doorways series. I haven't played the previous two games. It was a bit confusing to follow the story at the beginning.
The story is discovered using written notes scattered throughout the game and the surrounding environmental cues. I liked it for what it was.
It is divided into three acts. I liked Act 1 and Act 3. The story telling reminded me of In Sound Mind (not gameplay-wise).
The sound design is done well. The aesthetics are excellent. It really conveyed an eerie feeling.
But constant stuttering through 1/3 of the game and during cutscenes ruined the experience for me. The game has an optimization issue. Also, in Act 2, the game suddenly turned into a hardcore puzzler (a sliding puzzle with a twist). It was utterly absurd. As a result, I have to rely on a walkthrough for that particular section.
There are some platforming sections that felt clunky due to slow character movements and limited jump ability.
It may take around 5 to 6 hours (with 100% collectibles) to complete the game.
I would have assigned this a positive rating if there were no stutters.
Altogether, it was a bit of a mixed experience.
Get it at a discount if you are into atmospheric horror games and walking simulators.
My verdict: 5/10
